It’s been a long time….

11 Apr

I’m sorry, it’s been a long time and I haven’t updated this blog for almost a year.  As you can see in the last post, my partner, Crystal is not longer part of Something Sweet For You.  She given birth to a wonderful baby girl and has now devoting her time to her family 🙂  I’m so happy for her and sad at the same time 😦  But she’ll keep baking!!!

Last year was a busy year with work, getting healthy, traveling, and a bit of baking.  Work has always been crazy and with trying to be more healthy with cooking and working out there hasn’t been much time to bake and experiment.  My family took our grandma to Europe for the first time and she had such a great time! I’ll have to do a special post just on Europe!

We did get some great orders last year from celebrating weddings to celebrating anti-bullying day.  Here is a few snaps from 2013!

Star Trek
I was asked to make a Star Trek themed cake pop and my client was looking for Spock and Captain Kirk cake pop. It wasn’t an easy task 😐 but I think it turned out pretty good! 😀

Golf
We had the opportunity to participate in the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) cake auction at the ALS golf tournament and we made some golf themed cake pops. The Cake Auction raised over $3000 alone! We were so happy to participate to such a great cause 😀

WeddingBride & Groom My good friends got married last year in August and we made their wedding favours for them. We made over 350 cake pops, packaged, and delivered them. It was a beautiful wedding and we were happy to be a part of their special day!

Here’s a photo of some mini cupcakes I made for a baby shower.

My cousin asked me to make some tooth cake pops for her dentist and this was my first time making them! They were quite easy and super cute!

Baby Boy

A friend asked for some baby shower cake pops and the momma to be was having a baby boy!

I hope you enjoyed a glimpse of 2013. For more photos, check us out on Facebook 😀

♥ Something Blue ♥

16 Apr

In my last post, I made a blue bird cake pop for a trial run for a wedding and am so happy with the final results!  The wedding was at The Four Season for a beautiful bride named Angie and a handsome groom named Vic.  Their wedding reception was beautiful and inspired by Tiffany blue.   They had ordered blue bird cake pops (matched perfectly!), but I wanted to do something special for them so I made a bride & groom blue bird cake pop and it turned out super cute!

Take a look at our set up, isn’t the cake pop stand beautiful?  I absolutely love it!  and you can change the ribbon to any color you want.  The cake stand holds approx 145 cake pops.  I’m so lucky to have found this and now when you order you can rent this for any event!

Blue Bird cake Pops

Bird, Lorax, and Monster!

This week I made some trial cake pops, I have a wedding order for blue bird cake pops and wanted to see how they would turn out.  The blue bird cake pops turned out pretty well and the bride to be is super happy!  I can’t wait to make them and see all the blue birds together.

Blue Chick Cakje Pop

I had leftover dough and wanted to make cake pops I’ve never made before and was inspired by Bakerella‘s Lorax she made from Dr. Suess.  I don’t know how Bakerella does it, but her work is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!!!  She must be super patient to make all these unique beautiful cake pops!  I followed her method and dipped all the remaning balls in orange chocolate and then made the mustache and furry eyebrows.  I think it turned out pretty cute!  but I found the eyes to be super hard to make as I had to cut each sprinkle.  I ended up making a few and then didn’t want to make any more as it was getting very late (I’m a night owl), so I ended making monsters (they were easier!) out of the remaining cake pops. My monster looks so much like Mike from Monsters Inc! that may be my next project 😉

A couple of weeks ago I was asked to make bunny cupcakes for a birthday party.  The birthday boy was turning 100 days old.  In Chinese tradition, when a baby turns 100 days old, it’s time for a celebration. This celebration represents the wish that the baby will live 100 years (if i’m wrong, I’m sorry!).  To celebrate, family and friends come together over a meal.

I was asked to make bunny cupcakes because the birthday boy’s chinese zodiac is a rabbit.  I was racking my brain as to how I was going to make these bunnies, but after a few bad attempts, I was able to find the perfect way! YAY!!

These cupcakes would be perfect for Easter too!!! I can’t wait to make more! 😀

Happy Belated ♥ Day!

How was your Valentine’s Day?  What did you do?  Who did you spend it with?

Valentine’s Day does not always have to be spent with your boyfriend or girlfriend but with any loved one.  It’s just a special day to let the ones you love know that you care about them.  I spent my Valentine’s Day spreading the love and spending some time with R.

What better way to say Happy ♥ Day then to give them something sweet to eat!  I had a few orders for Valentine’s; I baked about 4 dozen Hidden Heart Cupcakes and 1 Cupcake Bouquet.  I hope all the kids at school, the coworkers, and my friends enjoyed the Hidden Heart Cupcakes!  The Cupcake Bouquet was for a special wife!  With the leftover, I made some cake pops.Valentine's Cupcake
